3 Therapy Tips With Sarah
For younger students - particularly with Apraxia - who can imitate and can attend but are having difficulty:
Set clear expectations - have visuals of speech rules, if you are doing sessions via telepractice make sure the parent has a visual as well
Give points for following speech room rules (again, parent and SLP can tally if telepractice to homes), and reward can be a 1-minute YouTube video on mute, so you can talk about what is happening on the video (Sarah’s clients like Octonauts and Sheriff Callie).
Target multiple sounds at once - not just one sound per session
If you’d like a fun and interactive material for your prek and k students, try Sarah’s winter sound boom cards for early sounds.
