Quizzes for Students

  1. National Geographic Kids quizzes - these online quizzes cover fun nature topics about animals or plants that require students to make inferences, use deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills to work through. Students can pick a topic of interest (there are a lot to choose from) talk through their reasoning for making specific guesses at answers and learn some pretty fun facts about nature.

  2. TTribune - This online resource is from the Smithsonian Institution and is set up in a news story format. It has news articles for grades K through 12 and new articles are posted regularly. What’s really nice about this resource is that you can select customized lexile levels to match your students’ current reading level. Read the stories together and discuss them with your students then take a quiz at the end.

  3. Boom Cards - the covid-19 pandemic is what led me to really explore the resources on boomlearning.com. I used Boom cards a lot when I gave virtual therapy from home while under quarantine. Some Boom decks are available for purchase (Sarah has developed some wonderful Boom decks from SLP Happy Hour on there for you to check out) but many you can use for free across a wide variety of topics.

  4. Brain Pop Jr. Movie of the Week - This is a free app on the iPad or on Apple TV that updates each week with a new educational short video. The character Annie and her robot friend Moby are really fun for elementary students to interact with and then respond to a comprehension quiz at the end.

  5. Google forms & Quizlet - And if you want to make your own quiz from scratch after all you can make your own online quizzes with Google Forms or Quizlet for free. Google forms allows you to make custom quizzes with any question format (multiple choice, open-ended, true/false…you name it) and with Quizlet you can make custom flashcards, which the site converts into a quiz and quiz games students can use to study or test their knowledge.
