Episode 119: Ambiguous Loss & Unresolved Grief

TW: Brief mentions of death, suicide, and loss

In this episode, the cohosts share more about ambiguous loss, and how to tell if you are experiencing it. They also cover 5 ways to help loved ones who are grieving, and what “ruminating” looks like and some self-care questions to ask yourself when you are stuck in a negative thought loop. Listen to the Episode.

Questions For When You are Stuck in a Negative Thought Loop:

Did I make the best decision I knew how to make at the time?

Did I consider both the needs of myself and of others? (Of course we don’t make decisions just keeping in mind one or the other, there are times when one or the other weighs more heavily)

What is the harm versus benefit of each side?

Am I willing to keep seeking information and changing my perspective if new information presents itself?
Was I honest and authentic even if it was imperfect? Authenticity is saying what needs to be said. Especially those of us practicing boundaries may feel clumsy in this at times - so were you authentically honest? Even if you would have said it better knowing what you know now.
