In this episode, the cohosts answer your questions about pandemic trauma, including:

  • How do you deal with the trauma of losing people you love to Covid and still supporting and helping your students/clients/patients and trying to remain open to them when they are actively NOT taking precautions to protect themselves and others?

  • How do we live and deal with pandemic trauma when the pandemic has no end in sight?

  • What can we practically do to heal from the ongoing pandemic trauma? What can you do about it?

Sarah also shares a six-step process for dealing with strong emotions which includes:

    One- Identify the feeling

Two - Accept the feeling and connect with common humanity (the fact that you aren’t the only one feeling these feelings due to these experiences)

Three - Don’t compare your feelings to anyone elses - your feelings are valid (even if they aren’t “as bad” as someone else's)

Four - Sit by your own side, even when the feelings are hard

Five - take a break, reach out to social support or a primary care provider if you need more support

Six - Be kind to yourself. This feels hard because it is hard, and consider saying a kind word to yourself or as Kristin Neff says - put your hand to your heart and say “I can be kind to myself through this.”
